Honey's Highlights

Editor: Ellen Valinski       www. Surprisearrivals.com                  November 09

Where has the time gone! I can't believe Thanksgiving will be her soon. Just the beginning of the holiday season. Being from Massachusetts, I miss the smell of the logs burning in home fireplaces as I walk my dog "Lola". Sometimes it is hard to believe this is fall sneaking up on winter. With the 90 degree weather, here in Florida, all summer into October, it is a bit mystifying.

Missing the changing color of leaves on trees is part of preparing for Thanksgiving up north. Here in Florida, when the weather man says a cold front if coming, they mean the temperature is going to only be in the high 70's. No frost on our pumpkins! Thanksgiving is the perfect time for family and friends to gather to give thanks for health, happiness, new babies, new friends and every day happiness. I, myself, give thanks for the most wonderful friends and extended family anyone could want. Now is the time when most of my very old friends come to Florida for the winter. That makes me very happy. When I say old friends, I mean friends for the past 40 and 50 years.

Christmas parties are all ready in the planning stages. Thought of the day-"There is no elevator to success, you have to take the stairs"

Holiday Recipe- "How to Preserve a husband"

Be careful in your selection. Do not choose to young. when once selected, give your entire thought to preparation for domestic use. Some insist on keeping them in a pickle, while others are constantly getting them in hot water.  This makes them sour, hard, and bitter. Even poor varieties may be made to be sweet, tender and good by garnishing them with patience, well sweetened with love and seasoned kisses. Wrap them in a mantle of charity, keep warm with a steady fire of domestic devotion and serve with peaches and cream. Thus prepared, they will keep for yours.
